SEKTION Kitchen system
Problem:
Has anyone spoofed SEKTION base kitchen cabinet into a movable “floating” island before( not attached to the wall or storey )? I want to add a bar and storage next to my stackable washer and dryer in my laundry room. Per my planning, the base will be made up of one 24 x 24 and one 15 x 24 board( total diameter 39 ”).
The issue is I can’t permanently fix the basi lockers to anything because the emergency flooring ditch( code requirement) is in the way. There would be enough chamber under the cabinets for ocean to flow into the duct. Nonetheless, there is not enough room under the cabinet for the pump to be “in full view” and “accessible” for upkeep( too code ). So whatever I do, it needs to be self-supporting and relatively easy to move for an inspector or contractor.
A got a couple of speedy digressions:
Please rely me when I say side by side washer and dryers with a bar and upper boards is not a good alternative. I can’t fix locate cabinets to the walls because the bar will cut across the water supply and electrical outlet cartons. Yes, this is a very poorly designed room!

Hi Jesse
I understand the irritation of having an ungainly room.
While I have not attended a tutorial on a movable SEKTION base closet specific, it can be freestanding. The kitchen island in my aged accommodation was freestanding and not fastened to the floor( though that is IKEA’s recommended stair) or wall. It can certainly be pushed against the wall. But the information was ponderous and moving it was not a person or persons job.
You’ll need to get IKEA’s kitchen island assembly kit to make it happen. Take a look at the assembly educations. I think you’ll pretty much understand why it is it’s done.
Omit Step 9, where the aids are affixed to the ground.
Adding heavy duty furniture sliders on the underside of the legs and fundings may make it easier to move.
Hope that helps and good luck on the project.
Happy hacking,
Jules
